New Acts at 67th Annual Kutztown Folk Festival
Although many of the festival visitor’s favorites performers are returning for this year’s 67th annual Kutztown Folk Festival, several new acts are sure to get this year’s visitors attention.
New to this year’s Festival is the Reutlingen Germany based Hohner Handharmonica and Acordian Club. Internationally known, the 11 piece HHAC will be traveling to Pennsylvania as part of a sister city exchange with Reading Pennsylvania. Thanks to the efforts of Former Reading Mayor Tom McMahon, Kutztown University, and Mt. Folk Radio’s Dave Kline, HHAC will be performing in Kutztown on July 4th and again July 5th, 3 shows each day.
Also making their Festival debut is the Greater Lehigh Valley’s Boiled Owls. A stringed quintet, the Boiled Owls have performed with world renowned acts such as Sam Bush and Railroad Earth. The quintet will help close out the Festival on July 10th with two shows on the Festival’s Main Stage.
Festival visitors will be able to enjoy the sounds of first year festival performers The Kickbacks and the Grexin Band. Calling Nazareth, PA home, the Kickbacks put their own spin on both country and popular rock covers on Saturday evening July 9th. Berks County’s Grexin will delight visitors for the first time at the Festival on opening day July 2nd during the expanded evening hours. From Reading, PA , Grexin is a unique mix of folk, fusion, funk, blues, and “rockability” that will have folk grinning ear to ear.
Sunday evening July 3rd will see the Lehigh Valley’s own Little Brass Band performing classic German Festive tunes on the Festival’s popular Hoe Down stage.
This year’s 67th annual Kutztown Folk Festival runs July 2nd thru July 10th.
