Folk Festival Wine Tour Back for 2nd Run

After a very well received inaugural run, the Kutztown Folk Festival Wine Tour will again be part of the 67th annual celebration of Pennsylvania Dutch Culture. Located individually about the Festival grounds in 2015, “the 5 wine and cider related vendors added a unique walking tour experience that compliment very nicely with the Festival’s traditional sights and sounds", said the Festival’s Operations Coordinator Bev Godshall.

Included in this year’s Festival Wine Tour is Chester County’s Paradocx Vineyard(link is external). Having participated in the Festival prior to the tour’s development, Paradocx is a Fest favorite and well recognized by their “paint can” themed wine containers. Their selection of sweet summer wines is equally as popular.

Also returning are “second year veterans” Long Trout Winery and Frecon Farms Cidery. Long Trout(link is external), located just north of the Berks County border is well known for their unique and colorful wines and is a longtime member of the Berks County Wine Trail. For years, Berks County’s own Frecon Farms(link is external) has been at the forefront of the hard cider resurgence. With the tremendous increase in popularity, and the public’s awareness of ciders historical economical importance in the early years of colonial America, Frecon’s participation is a natural!

Necture On the Vine, another multi-year participant returns to this year’s festival with their ever popular wine frapes and wine slushy mixes. They will, of course, have lots of their iced wine treats to sample, non-alcoholic versions are available.

New to this year’s line-up is Blue Mountain Vineyard(link is external) from neighboring Lehigh County. A long-time member of the Lehigh Valley Wine Trail, Blue Mountain will have 2 of their vast varietal selections labeled with a special edition 2016 wine themed festival logo.

Fest-goers can follow the self-guided tour via the festival map included in the complimentary program booklet. This year’s Festival is July 2nd thru July 10th. For additional information visit the Festival’s website at www.kutztownfestival.com or call 610.683.1597.
