About the artist: Kate Clair is a teacher of graphic design, branding and typography at Kutztown University. Her background is in sculpture and printmaking as well as art history. She currently makes collages from found items, paints and enjoys gardening, yoga and music. Inspiration for t shirt design:
This design was adapted from an older Kutztown Folk Festival Shirt from the 1990s that featured the pastoral views of Berks County PA farms in the first bar. The middle bar shows many of the events, demos and items one can pick up at the Kutztown Folk Festival. The final bar is a tribute to the decorative PA Dutch folk art on sale at the Folk Festival. Together they give a sense of the experience of the Kutztown Folk Festival and its attempt to preserve the traditional agricultural life that makes PA so great!
